Site Terms and Conditions
Plain terms for a site that publishes price research and passes enquiries to a lead partner. They set out what our figures are, what we are responsible for, and what we are not.
Who these terms are between
conservatorycost.co.uk is published by a sole trader in the United Kingdom. We are not a limited company, so there is no company registration number to give you. Our postal address is:
Harrogate Road
Chapel Allerton
Leeds
LS7 4LZ
United Kingdom
In these terms, we, us and our mean that publisher, and you means anyone using the site. Using the site means accepting these terms. If you do not accept them, nothing here requires you to stay.
What this site is, and what it is not
We research and publish what conservatories and conservatory roofs cost in the UK, and we operate a form that passes enquiries to a lead partner. That is the whole of what we do. The page on who writes this site sets out our background and, just as importantly, what we are not qualified to tell you.
We are not an installer, a builder, a surveyor, an architect, a structural engineer or a building control body. We do not carry out work, supervise it or inspect it. Nothing on this site is professional advice about your building, your planning position or your building regulations position, and it must not be relied on as though it were. Where a page states what a regulation requires, it quotes the primary source and links to it so you can read it yourself, and where the published sources contradict each other we say so rather than resolving it for you.
Prices on this site
Every figure we publish is an estimate assembled from named, dated, published sources. It is not a quotation, it is not an offer, and it is not capable of being accepted. No installer is bound by it and neither are we. The pricing disclaimer sets that out in full, and conservatory prices is the research it applies to.
Each estimate carries a range, an evidence grade, a source name and the date the figure was last checked. Prices move. A figure that was accurate on its check date may not be accurate on the day you read it, and the check date is printed beside it so that you can judge that for yourself.
We do not warrant that any figure is complete, current or free of error, and we label plainly which figures rest on a single source. What we do commit to is correcting errors we are told about and dating the correction, rather than editing quietly so that the change cannot be traced.
Requesting quotes, and what happens next
If you use the quote form, you are asking us to pass your details to our lead partner so that installers in their network can contact you. Up to four installers may do so. We are paid a fee for that introduction, and we are paid the same whatever you go on to spend.
Any contract you then make is between you and the installer. We are not a party to it. We do not set their price, we do not choose which installer contacts you, we do not check their insurance, accreditations, guarantees or workmanship, and we hold no money for you at any point. We cannot cancel, vary or enforce a contract you make with them, and we have no power to obtain a refund from them.
Your rights against an installer come from your contract with them and from consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and, for contracts agreed in your home or at a distance, the cancellation rights in the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. If something goes wrong with the work, your route is against the installer, and we will pass on any reference we hold for your enquiry to help you evidence when and how it was made.
We do not promise that an installer will contact you, that you will receive any particular number of quotes, or that a quote you receive will fall inside a range published here.
Your data, and cookies
What we collect, why, who receives it and how to withdraw consent is set out in how we handle your data. In short: nothing is passed on until you press a submit button with the recipients named above it, and marketing consent is a separate box that starts unticked.
This site sets no cookies at all, and our cookie policy explains the single item of functional storage it does use, and why that needs no consent banner.
Using our content, and our price data
The words, tables and illustrations on this site are ours and are protected by copyright. You may read them, print them and share pages for your own use, and quote short extracts with a link back to the page they came from.
The underlying price register is different, and deliberately so. It is published as an open dataset under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. You may copy it, adapt it and use it commercially, including to build something that competes with this site, provided you credit conservatorycost.co.uk and link to the source. We publish it that way because a price claim that nobody can check is not worth making.
What you may not do is republish our pages wholesale, present our research as your own, or strip the source and date columns off a figure and republish the number on its own. Those columns are the part that makes it honest.
Acceptable use
Do not use this site to submit an enquiry that is not genuine, to submit somebody else's details without their permission, to test or attack the site or its forms, or to crawl it at a rate that degrades it for other readers. Automated submissions are blocked, and an enquiry we believe is not genuine is stored for our own records and is not passed to anyone.
The site is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will be available without interruption or free of errors, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, including the calculator and the quote form, without notice.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from your reliance on an estimate published here, from a contract you enter into with an installer, from work an installer does or fails to do, or from the site being unavailable. Our figures are research, published in good faith and supplied for information.
We link out to regulators, legislation, manufacturers and other publishers, often in order to show a source we disagree with. A link is not an endorsement, and we do not control what those sites say or do.
Changes, and governing law
We may change these terms. The version on this page is the one that applies, and it carries the date it was last changed at the top. If we change something material we date the change rather than replacing the page silently.
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country you live in.
If any part of this is unclear, get in touch and ask. We would rather answer a question than have you agree to something you have not understood.
