Conservatory Roof Systems Compared

A lightweight tiled overlay made by Guardian Building Products Ltd, company 08135674, in Derby. There is no corporate link to Ultraframe and no company called "Guardian Roof Systems Ltd" exists. The build-up is an aluminium rafter profile, Kingspan phenolic insulation in three layers, 12mm ply and Metrotile or Decratile tiles.

Fitted it runs £6,980 to £14,500 including VAT, typically £9,000 to £11,500: Reasonably evidenced from exactly two publishers, one dated May 2026 and one undated, and nothing on this brand clears that grade because there is no third publisher and no manufacturer figure to check them against. One number to keep hold of: Guardian's published U-value is 0.18 W/m²K maximum, which does not meet the 0.15 England limiting value for a replacement roof. A legacy figure rather than an error, and the most useful comparison point in this table.

SupaLite Tiled Roof Systems Ltd, company 06930456, in Preston, makes a lightweight tiled overlay on an aluminium sub-frame with over 150mm of insulation in three layers. It is the only manufacturer here that publishes a price, and that price creates the largest unresolved contradiction in the category.

Installed at 4m by 4m, roughly 17 m², a SupaLite roof is priced at £8,000 to £12,000. SupaLite's own supply-only list is £1,200 per m² including VAT, which works out at about £20,400 for the same roof before anyone fits it. Installed figures come from one UK publisher (July 2026), Reasonably evidenced but conflicted; the list price is SupaLite's own and undated. Checked 20 August 2026. The two do not reconcile, they are roughly a factor of two apart, and we publish both rather than averaging them. It also carries the category's clearest documentation split: marketing states 0.15 W/m²K, or 0.12 enhanced, while the LABC Registered Detail states 0.18. Both are real, they come from different documents, and which applies to your roof depends on the build-up your installer actually fits.

Put the brand names aside for a moment. A tiled or solid roof on a 3m by 3m conservatory costs £6,000 to £11,000 installed including VAT across four independent publishers. Well evidenced, checked 20 August 2026. That is the best evidenced row in the whole roof register and it is generic: no publisher who produced it named a system.

Every branded band above sits inside or just above it, which is a consistency check passing rather than a coincidence. Nobody publishes evidence that one of these systems costs materially more than another for the same job, so a quote £3,000 above another quote is telling you about the installer rather than about the badge on the rafters. Weight is the input to the only question that can stop a solid roof outright, which is whether your existing frame carries it. Published weights run 31 to 38 kg/m² and both figures are Ultraframe's: LivinROOF at 31, UltraRoof380 at 38. That is the entire published dataset. Guardian, SupaLite, Equinox, Leka, Loggia and Classic publish nothing we could find, and we are not going to attach Ultraframe's range to them as though they had. Ask your installer for the loading in kg/m² or kN/m for the exact build-up being quoted, in writing, before you sign.

"LABC approved" appears on hundreds of installer pages in this market. We do not write it about any system, and here is exactly why.

Every publicly downloadable LABC or LABSS Registered Detail we located in this category is expired on its face. Guardian's EW320 was issued 8 August 2012 and states validity to 8 August 2016. SupaLite's EW277 was first issued 26 June 2014 and states validity to 26 June 2016. Equinox's EW606, and the LABSS equivalent EWS606, was first issued 19 May 2016 and states validity to 19 July 2017. LABC's live register is members-only, so whether any of the three has been renewed is not publicly verifiable. It may well have been. We cannot see it, so we will not say it.

The only current dated approvals we could download are from Stroma Building Control, an Approved Inspector rather than LABC, and they are twelve-month certificates: 14001 for UltraRoof380 and 14018 for LivinROOF, both issued 19 January 2026 and expiring 19 January 2027, and 14005 for SupaLite, issued 15 June 2025 and expired 14 June 2026.

On BBA numbers, two things are worth knowing. Guardian is widely credited with BBA 13/5078. A search of the BBA register returns "Nothing Found", and the number circulates only on affiliate sites and review aggregators, so we treat it as unverified and do not repeat it as a credential. The one current BBA certificate in this whole set is 96/3261, held by Ultraframe Classic, second-issued 12 December 2023, and Classic is a glazed roof rather than a solid one.

A Registered Detail is a pre-assessed construction detail. It is not approval of your roof, on your conservatory, by anybody. Your job still has to be signed off, and no competent person scheme can do it. What that process actually involves is at conservatory roof replacement building regulations. The rule we hold ourselves to is simple: write the certificate number and its stated validity window, or write nothing.

Four of the errors on this page are not obscure. Loggia sold as a roof, Classic sold as solid, Leka reported as insolvent and expired certificates quoted as current approval are all repeated across installer sites that have no reason to check. They sit alongside eighteen others in 22 things the conservatory industry gets wrong , each with the primary source that corrects it.

The general point is worth more than any of the four: where manufacturers publish almost nothing, installer marketing becomes the record and errors propagate because nobody downstream holds the document.
